Our Ministries

Missions & Outreach

Valley Community Church aims to raise awareness of missions. Our mission is to reach a lost world with the good news of Jesus Christ. Missionaries around the world, in our own nation, and in our own community diligently serve to promote this cause.

VCC has the opportunity to partner with missionaries through financial support, encouragement, and participation from our own members. Many of us may never have the opportunity to take a missions trip; however, we do have the privilege to support this cause through our prayers, giving, and participation. We currently partner with the following missionaries and outreaches:

MARK AND JEAN DEVINE - ASSEMBLIES OF GOD MISSIONARIES TO COLUMBIA: Mark & Jean are church planting missionaries in the city of Cali, Columbia, where they are currently at work in a church called Iglesia Vida Eterna. After a church has been

established, they allow the nationals to assume leadership. Colombia email address:

Global University is a worldwide distance education provider bringing tools for evangelism, discipleship, and training to 180 countries around the world in 124 languages. Because Global University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council, you can be assured of quality in content, instructional design, and service.

Resulting from a merger between ICI University and Berean University, Global University has a combined history of more than 80 years of service, yet is on the cutting edge of technology with on-line courses and videoconferencing. However, print courses remain a mainstay for those who prefer to study in print or do not have internet access. The goal is to make evangelism, discipleship, and training accessible to everyone-everywhere!

Global University is building on the dreams of those who founded Berean University and ICI University; but more than that, it is building the Kingdom of God by "Impacting eternity by reaching the lost and training the found, everywhere!" through direct evangelism and through training others to evangelize.

In Southern California, there are 16 million people in desperate need of the love of Jesus. We are partnering with Steve Preston to meet the needs and speak to the cultures of the varied people groups and neighborhoods that are Southern California. A trip to any SoCal mall demonstrates that ours is one of the most ethnically diverse regions of the globe. We are made up of 24 million people from 150 different people groups who speak over 230 different languages and dialects at home. And 16 million of these people report no relationship to Jesus. We cannot reach these people by using ineffective Church Planting methodologies. As a District, we have embraced the philosophy that each Church Planting situation will require its own unique approach, and often will combine portions of several different Church Planting models. The ideal is the “Parent Affiliated Church Plant” where each new Church Plant is related to and supported by an existing “Parent Church.”

Steve Preston serves as the SoCal Church Planting Director and is committed to walking with churches through the Parent Affiliated Church Planting process with the Parent and the Plant. Steve graduated from Long Beach State (M.A.) and both he and Becky graduated from Southern California College (now Vanguard University). They were married in 1974, and they have two adult daughters. Since beginning full-time ministry over 30 years ago they served three churches as Senior Pastors, being at Grace Assembly in Los Angeles for over 11 years.
